When Love Became the Judge: Part 1 The Transfer of Judgment: When Love Took the Throne

In partnership with

Hey Family,

Life has a way of testing what you think you’ve learned.
You can spend years growing wiser, softer, stronger and then one hard week makes you wonder if you’re really as healed as you thought.

That’s where this new journey begins.

We’ve spent the last season learning how to wear our crowns recognizing who we are and protecting what GOD placed in our hands.
But this next step is different.

Now it’s about how we rule, how we love, lead, and correct without losing compassion.
Because every crown eventually has to sit in a courtroom moment when character is tested more than calling.

When the Father Handed Over Judgment

When GOD gave judgment to the Son, He wasn’t abdicating His authority; He was revealing His heart.
He didn’t give judgment to power or pride. He gave it to Love wrapped in Wisdom.

Proverbs 8 : 15 – 16
“By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.”

The Father trusted Jesus to judge because Love can hold both mercy and truth.
Heaven’s government isn’t built on domination but on discernment.
And that same Spirit still whispers to us every day: “Judge nothing before the time let Love lead first.”

The Everyday Courtroom

We all enter a courtroom daily not marble halls, but living rooms, workplaces, and conversations
Each moment asks:

“Will I let Love sit on the throne of my heart, or will pride take the bench?”

Everyday Place

The Struggle

Love + Wisdom Response

Parenting

Correcting without crushing

Pause, then guide with patience

Leadership

Someone drops the ball

Balance accountability with grace

Relationships

Stay excellent without bitterness

Inner Life

Judging yourself

Extend grace to your own growth

That’s what the judgment seat looks like in real time; not thunder from Heaven but small, steady choices that sound like peace.

💎 Word Study: 1828 Webster’s Dictionary

  • Judge: “To discern rightly; to distinguish truth from falsehood, right from wrong.”

  • Love: “An affection of the mind excited by what is truly lovely; benevolence, good-will, charity.”

  • Wisdom: “The right use of knowledge; the choice of the best means to accomplish good ends.”

  • Abdicate: “To renounce or relinquish a throne, right, or dignity; to give up power formally.”

💬 Reflection:

GOD did not abdicate His authority; He extended it.

Judgment through Love becomes Wisdom.
Judgment without Love becomes Pride.

Christ didn’t come to cancel judgment; He came to carry it correctly.
He ruled, but He also wept.
He corrected, but He also cared.

 If We’re Honest…

Sometimes it’s easier to be right than kind.
Sometimes it’s easier to hold your position than hold your peace.

But the older I get in GOD, the more I realize that wisdom doesn’t always win arguments it wins hearts.

And love? Love doesn’t stay silent when something is wrong.
Sometimes Love cuts before it heals.
Sometimes GOD’s correction feels like a curse because it’s tearing down what was never meant to stand.

But that’s still Love.
The same Love that humbles you will also lift you.
The same voice that says “no more” will later whisper “start again.”

Revelation 3 : 19
“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”

So when His judgment feels heavy, remember it’s not rejection; it’s renovation.
He’s clearing out what was breaking you so He can rebuild what will bless you.

Proverbs 20 : 28
“Mercy and truth preserve the king, and his throne is upholden by mercy.”

That’s Heaven’s balance mercy and truth keeping each other upright.

✍🏽 Journaling Prompts

  1. Where has GOD trusted me to lead and how do I respond when it’s hard?

  2. What situation right now needs both love and wisdom, not just emotion?

  3. Who have I been quick to judge but slow to understand?

  4. Where do I need to let Love “sit on the throne” again?

  5. How has GOD’s correction in this season been tearing down to rebuild something truer?

 Real-Life Reflection

Maybe you’re a parent trying to stay patient,
a leader trying to be fair,
or a soul trying to forgive someone who doesn’t see their wrong.

That’s what this series is for; learning to lead like Jesus when life doesn’t cooperate.

James 3 : 17
“The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and full of mercy.”

It’s not about power; it’s about peace.
Not about who’s right; but what’s righteous.

 In Conclusion: Heart to Heart

If there’s one thing this week reminded me, it’s that Love doesn’t run from the hard parts it redeems them.

Every correction, every conviction, every closed door you didn’t understand it wasn’t meant to crush you.
It was meant to carve you into someone who can carry more grace.

GOD doesn’t judge to shame us; He judges to shape us.
And sometimes that shaping means breaking patterns we’ve learned to hide behind.
Sometimes it means losing things we thought we couldn’t live without only to realize His mercy was protecting us all along.

So if life feels heavy right now…
If you’re standing in a place where you can’t tell if you’re being punished or prepared…
Lean in closer.
You’re being loved into order.

Love is still on the throne.
Wisdom still whispers.
And even when your story feels out of control, Heaven has not lost its balance.

Let this be your reminder:
You are not disqualified by the process; you are being distinguished by it.
Every tear, every test, every turning point is proof that the Judge who reigns over you also weeps with you.

May this week teach you to see correction as compassion,
to welcome conviction as care,
and to remember that the same hands that prune are the ones that promise peace.

You are loved, you are led, and you are still chosen even in the courtroom.

“Mercy and truth preserve the king.” — Proverbs 20 : 28
