Your Seat Is Still Reserved: Releasing the Past to Receive Peace
Dear Family,
Last week, we explored what it means to make space for what truly sustains us stillness, presence, and the peace of God. But this week, I feel led to ask a deeper question:
Have you actually taken your seat?
You’ve made the space. You’ve cleared the noise.
But are you sitting still enough to receive?
Drop the Bags—You Don’t Need Them Anymore
Some of us are still dragging baggage from old places into new, sacred space. Baggage of shame, resentment, unworthiness, guilt. We sit down only halfway—still gripping our past with one hand, still trying to control our tomorrow with the other.
But Psalm 30 gives us a divine rhythm of release and restoration:
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5
Joy is not earned. Peace is not forced. Healing is not performance-based.
You don’t have to be “over it” to be healing through it.
The Invitation to Sit
In Luke 10, Mary sat at Jesus’ feet while Martha was busy managing everything else. And Jesus said, "Mary has chosen the better part." He wasn’t rebuking Martha for working—but affirming Mary for being still enough to receive.
Your healing begins when you let go of the need to prove you're okay and simply allow God to meet you where you are.
Maybe the miracle is not in doing more, but in laying more down.
This Week’s Reflection
Ask yourself:
What old weight am I still carrying that God never asked me to hold?
Have I created space but still resisted sitting in it?
What would it look like to trust that healing is happening—even if I don’t see it yet?
A Prayer for the One Who's Still Carrying Too Much:
God, I confess that I’ve been sitting in sacred space with cluttered arms.
Teach me to release what no longer serves me.
Help me to receive Your joy without guilt.
Let peace meet me here not because I’ve earned it, but because You freely give it.
Let me sit at Your feet without shame and let my soul remember that this seat was always mine.
Amen.
You don’t have to run today. You don’t have to fix everything. You don’t even have to understand the process.
Just sit. Release. And receive.
With love and grace,
