Stepping Out of the Boat – Building in Uncertainty
Dear Family,
Last week, we focused on moving from blueprint to building—taking the first faithful steps in obedience based on what God has revealed. This week, we’re going deeper: what do we do once we’ve started building and the wind picks up? When the next step isn’t just on land—but on water?
Let’s reflect on Matthew 14, where Peter steps out of the boat to walk on water toward Jesus. He moved not with certainty—but with faith. That moment echoes everything we learned from Ezekiel’s obedience: it’s not about knowing the outcome. It’s about trusting the One who called you out.
Faith Walks Where Eyes Can’t See
Jesus didn’t calm the storm before calling Peter—He called him in the middle of it. Likewise, your assignment may not come with calm seas. Like Peter, your calling may invite you to step out into the unknown, relying not on your sight, but on your Savior.
“Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid… and beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’” – Matthew 14:29-30
Jesus is not asking you to be fearless. He’s asking you to keep walking toward Him—even when the wind howls.
What Happens After the First Step?
Do you keep building when no one affirms you?
Do you keep walking when the waters are rough?
Can you keep your eyes on the promise and not the problem?
Like Peter, we may stumble—but we are never alone. The same Jesus who calls us out is the one who lifts us up.
Reflection Questions:
What “water” is God calling you to walk on this week?
Have you been distracted by the wind (doubt, fear, criticism)?
How can you stay focused on the voice of Jesus and not the storm?
Next Steps – Keep Walking in Faith:
Revisit what you’ve already started. Don’t stop now.
Journal the winds that threaten to distract you.
Speak the Word over your walk. Declare: “Lord, I trust You on the water.”
Faith Isn’t Just About Starting—It’s About Continuing
Building takes more than vision. It takes courage in motion. Even when the foundation is firm, walking it out may feel wobbly. That’s okay.
Step anyway. Speak anyway. Build anyway.
💬 I’d love to hear from you—what are you walking on this week? Where do you need Jesus to steady your step?
With faith and focus,
Christalyn Evette
