Where Is Your Crown? Part 4: Protecting Your Crown
Dear Family,
Last week, we talked about The Battle for Your Crown and how the enemy doesn’t always attack head-on, but creeps in through distraction, temptation, and compromise. We learned that while the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and that Jesus came to give us life: real, abundant, steady life.
And if you’ve been walking with me through this series, you probably noticed the shift: once you recognize your crown and learn to fight for it, there comes this quiet, steady question… “Now how do I protect it?”
That’s where we are today not in the hype of discovery, not in the chaos of battle, but in the daily discipline of protection.
Because truth be told, it’s one thing to win a fight it’s another to stay consistent in training when the noise fades.
If we’re honest, protecting your crown is the part nobody really talks about.
It’s not loud. It’s not glamorous. It’s the daily choosing to be faithful, to be intentional, to be still.
It’s easy to shout when you’re inspired, but much harder to keep your focus when life gets ordinary again. Yet this is where real growth happens; in the unseen, repetitive work of staying aligned with GOD when your emotions don’t match your faith.
Protecting your crown isn’t about being perfect. It’s about catching yourself when you start to drift and saying, “No, I’ve come too far to lose focus now.”
💭 A Self Reflective Thought: You don’t lose your crown overnight it slips when you stop paying attention.
📖 Scripture Reflection:
Proverbs 4:23 states, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
Your heart is your headquarters. Whatever owns it controls your direction.
That’s why the enemy doesn’t have to destroy you distraction is enough.
Guarding your heart doesn’t mean living scared or closed off. It means learning what deserves your energy and what doesn’t. It’s catching your triggers early. It’s choosing peace instead of proving your point. It’s being willing to step back and say, “GOD, I need You to check my heart before I wreck my witness.”
💎 Guarding Virtue: Staying Pure in a Polluted World
Virtue is strength in disguise. It’s doing right when doing wrong would feel easier.
Guarding virtue is less about rules and more about rhythm, keeping your spirit clean when the world keeps throwing dirt.
You’ll know you’re growing when you stop needing applause to make the right choice.
That might look like:
Not joining the gossip even when you have the tea.
Choosing silence instead of proving a point.
Letting go of people or habits that keep your mind cloudy.
Holiness isn’t pretending to be flawless. It’s saying, “GOD, I want You more than I want to fit in.”
🌿 Integrity: The Real You When Nobody’s Watching
Integrity is quiet strength. It’s not what people post it is who they are when nobody’s watching.
We all fall short sometimes. Maybe you said something you shouldn’t have or made a choice that pulled you off balance. The key is honesty. Don’t hide from GOD instead bring it to Him. Integrity grows when you stop pretending.
Ask yourself:
Where have I been performing instead of being honest?
Where have I been too hard on others but too easy on myself?
When you live with integrity, you stop needing validation. You walk in peace because your inside matches your outside.
⚔️ Accountability: Staying Covered While You Grow
Even kings and queens have guards.
Protecting your crown means being wise enough to stay connected.
You need people who’ll remind you of who you are when you forget. Not “yes-men,” but truth-tellers who pray more than they gossip.
Accountability isn’t exposure it’s protection. It says, “I trust you enough to help me stay aligned.”
That could be a friend, mentor, or even your journal, for me it is this newsletter. It is a safe space where truth and grace meet. Don’t isolate yourself in the name of independence; isolation is how the enemy sneaks in unnoticed.
🔥 Spiritual Warfare: The Quiet Fight Inside
Sometimes the battle isn’t demons it’s discipline.
It’s getting up when you feel drained.
It’s choosing faith over fear when your mind is racing at 2 a.m.
It’s catching yourself before you spiral into old patterns and saying, “Not this time.”
You don’t have to fight loud to fight well.
You fight by staying consistent. You fight by protecting your peace.
And you fight by remembering you’re already on the winning side.
Daily defense ideas:
Start your morning with a Scripture that grounds you.
End your day by writing one thing you’re thankful for.
Keep worship in your space even when your mood doesn’t match it.
Small disciplines build strong crowns.
🌳 Legacy: When the Way You Live Becomes the Lesson
Your crown isn’t just for you it’s a message.
Someone is always watching how you handle pressure, how you recover from failure, how you treat people when no one’s looking.
Legacy isn’t what you leave behind; it’s what you live out now.
Your quiet obedience, your resilience, your faith it’s all planting seeds.
Protecting your crown means being mindful that your example might be the only sermon someone hears this week.
📝 Journaling Prompts
What’s been trying to steal my focus or dull my peace lately?
Where is GOD asking me to be more intentional or honest?
Who are my “guards” the people who keep me accountable?
What daily habits can help me stay grounded and guarded?
What kind of example do I want my life to set right now?
✨ Closing Reflection: The Quiet Work of Protection
Protecting your crown isn’t loud or flashy it’s quiet, humble, daily obedience.
It’s showing up when no one sees you. It’s doing right even when it doesn’t get recognition.
And when it gets hard, remember this:
The crown you carry cost too much to lose through carelessness.
You don’t have to be perfect to protect it, just present.
Keep showing up, keep checking your heart, keep choosing peace.
“This crown came with a cost and I refuse to let it slip.”
